I started hooking about 2 years ago. My sister in law, Anne Mather got me started and I take classes with Mary Williamson. I have a friend who has given me so much wool that I decided to design and hook a rug for her. She and her husband are retired and spend much of their free time helping the less fortunate, which inspired my design.

I enjoy hooking primitive, almost always in a #8 cut, but have used #4 & #6 occasionally: I learned how to dye about a year ago and I have a lot of fun experimenting with different Cushing colors. My hooking hobby has literally taken over my spare bedroom and I cannot go into a thrift store without coming out with a bundle of wool. It is addicting! My husband has also taken up hooking and has completed his first rug which he designed himself. We now have about 7 hookers in the Mather family and sometimes have Mather hook-ins, which is a good excuse to get together.
