Introduction

The exotic designs of the sixteen and seventeen hundreds Jacobean era are very colorful and exciting to rug hook! You will learn about these designs, as well as about the music and stories from this time period. The colours you use may be bright, although never garish, or they may be rich, deep, and glowing. New or recycled wool may be incorporated with a mixture of blues, a variety of greens and glowing reds. Patterns and specially dyed wool may be purchased in class or you can bring your own supplies. Depending on the intricacies of the design and the weave of the background, you can use #3, #4, #5, #6 or larger to hook. Early correspondence with the instructor is necessary.

Doris Norman has held numerous rug hooking workshops across North America and is recognized as a master of this craft form.  She has taught Shading as well as Celtic and Pictorial designs throughout the Maritimes, Ontario and Oregon.  She has a gift for teaching the technical aspects of the craft of rug hooking, while facilitating the exchange of ideas and experiences among her students.
